Region’s origin of name
The name of the village comes from the surname “Peroulis”, which is well – known at the village.
History of region
It is a village of architectural heritage from the time of the Venetians. There is the evidence that the area was inhabited since the Stone Age (12,000 years ago).The village “Peroulades” was flourished during the middle Ages and did not suffer major damage, as the garrison had long-range artillery against the pirates. The greatest catastrophe brought in 1403 by the Genoese. In Peroulades there are two areas that we higly recommend you visit the remarkable beaches of “Cavos Drastis” and “Longas”. The sunset, as seen from the beach Longa, is one of the most impressive and unforgettable sightseeing of the island
During the winter time there are 830 residents. In contrast to winter time during the summer time the residents are about 3000 people including visitors.

The residents of the region formerly occupied professionally with olive groves, farming, agriculture and fisheries. Each family was autonomous and everything that was needed was home made. Today most people deal professionally with tourism during the summer months. During the winter time they deal amateur with agriculture and especially with the olive gathering and fishing.
